HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The Argonne National Laboratory is an economic
3 engine for the State of Illinois, enthusiastically cooperating
4 with existing and new Illinois companies, believing that
5 strengthening Illinois' technological base will create new
6 jobs here and improve every citizen's quality of life; and
 
7     WHEREAS, the Laboratory is today a world-recognized leader
8 in scientific research and development; and
 
9     WHEREAS, The Laboratory has played and continues to play a
10 significant role in the emergence of the State of Illinois as a
11 national center for science and technology; and
 
12     WHEREAS, The Laboratory attracts researchers to Illinois
13 from universities, industry, and government laboratories all
14 over the nation and the world; the Laboratory also conducts
15 joint research with and opens its facilities to researchers
16 from Illinois' major universities; and
 
17     WHEREAS, The Laboratory provides significant educational
18 opportunities to train the State of Illinois' next generation
19 of researchers and high-technology employees; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Argonne National Laboratory marks the 60th
21 anniversary of service to the State of Illinois and to the
22 nation this year; therefore, be it
 
23     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
25 SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we recognize the 60 years of
26 scientific contributions made by Argonne National Laboratory
27 and support the continued growth, expansion, job creation, and
28 scientific leadership of Argonne National Laboratory for the
29 betterment of the citizens of Illinois; and be it further

1     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to a representative of Argonne National Laboratory.
