SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

20 ILCS 415/8b.20

from Ch. 127, par. 63b108b.20

Amends the Personnel Code. Grants a State employee subject to the Code who is a veteran 4 days of leave per year (in addition to any currently available sick leave) to visit a veterans hospital for examination of a military service-connected disability (now, 2 days per year).

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Personnel Code is amended by changing Section 8b.20 as follows:

(20 ILCS 415/8b.20) (from Ch. 127, par. 63b108b.20)

Sec. 8b.20. Veterans hospital visits. An employee who is also a veteran shall be permitted 4 2 days per year to visit a veterans hospital for examination of a military service-connected disability. The 4 2 days shall not be charged against any sick leave currently available to the employee.
