SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 835/4   from Ch. 105, par. 468

    Amends the State Parks Act. Authorizes the Department of Natural Resources to cut and remove timber and other forest products as necessary and appropriate for the preservation of geologic or topographic formations, including canyons, gorges, caves, dunes, beaches, moraines, or palisades that have unusual aesthetic, historic, or cultural value.

1     AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The State Parks Act is amended by changing
5 Section 4 as follows:
 
6     (20 ILCS 835/4)  (from Ch. 105, par. 468)
7     Sec. 4. The Department of Natural Resources has the power:
8     (1) To make rules and regulations necessary to carry out
9 its duties under this Act, including rules and regulations for
10 the use, care, improvement, control and administration of lands
11 under its jurisdiction, and to enforce the same.
12     (2) To employ such custodians, keepers, clerks,
13 assistants, laborers and subordinates as may be necessary to
14 carry out the provisions of this Act.
15     (3) To lay out, construct and maintain all needful roads,
16 parking areas, paths or trails, bridges, and docks, camp or
17 lodge sites, picnic areas, beach houses, lodges and cabins and
18 any other structures and improvements necessary and
19 appropriate in any state park or easement thereto; and to
20 provide water supplies, heat and light, and sanitary facilities
21 for the public and living quarters for the custodians and
22 keepers of state parks.
23     (4) To replant any devastated native plant areas of any
24 State park or increase or supplement the same when necessary
25 with plant material indigenous to such park.
26     (5) To cooperate with the United States government and with
27 other states in matters relating to the care, improvement,
28 control and administration of national or interstate parks.
29     (6) To cooperate and contract with any agency, organization
30 or individual in a manner consistent with the purposes of this
31 Act and the powers granted the Department herein.
32     (7) To accept and administer gifts, grants and legacies of

1 money, securities or property to be used by the Department of
2 Natural Resources for the purposes of this Act and according to
3 the tenor of such gift, grant or legacy.
4     (8) To cut and remove timber and other forest products as
5 necessary and appropriate for the preservation of geologic or
6 topographic formations, including canyons, gorges, caves,
7 dunes, beaches, moraines, or palisades that have unusual
8 aesthetic, historic, or cultural value.
