SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
New Act

    Creates the Promote Illinois Ethanol and Biodiesel Act. Requires that the internet websites of State agencies must include hypertext links to websites containing information on ethanol and biodiesel fuels. Provides that the required links shall include any website maintained and operated by a State agency that posts information concerning E85 fuel or biodiesel fuel and may include private websites including, but not limited to, websites maintained and operated by the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition and the National Biodiesel Board. Provides that "State agency" means any department, office, commission, board, or authority within the Executive Department, and includes State-supported universities and colleges and the Illinois Building Authority. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning alternative fuels.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
5 Promote Illinois Ethanol and Biodiesel Act.
 
6     Section 5. State agency webpage requirements.
7     (a) Each State agency that maintains an Internet website
8 must include hypertext links to websites containing
9 information on ethanol and biodiesel fuels. These hypertext
10 links shall include any website maintained and operated by a
11 State agency that posts information regarding E85 fuel or
12 biodiesel fuel and may include private websites including, but
13 not limited to, websites maintained and operated by:
14         (i) the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition; and
15         (ii) the National Biodiesel Board.
16     (b) For the purpose of this Act, "State agency" means any
17 department, office, commission, board, or authority within the
18 Executive Department, and includes State-supported
19 universities and colleges and the Illinois Building Authority.
 
20     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
21 becoming law.
