SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
105 ILCS 5/27-23.7 new

    Amends the School Code to require all public high schools to offer to their students at least one advanced placement course in mathematics and one advanced placement course in English. Effective July 1, 2006.

1     AN ACT concerning education.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
5 27-23.7 as follows:
 
6     (105 ILCS 5/27-23.7 new)
7     Sec. 27-23.7. Advanced placement courses.
8     (a) In this Section, "AP course" means a college-level
9 advanced placement course offered through the Advanced
10 Placement Program of the College Board.
11     (b) Each public high school in this State must offer to its
12 students at least one AP course in mathematics and one AP
13 course in English.
 
14     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1,
15 2006.
