SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
110 ILCS 365/5   from Ch. 127 1/2, par. 405

    Amends the Illinois Fire Service Institute Act. Provides that the Illinois Fire Service Institute shall provide first responders with the practical knowledge necessary to protect themselves when securing a site in which methamphetamine is being manufactured. Effective July 1, 2005.

1     AN ACT concerning fire safety.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Fire Service Institute Act is
5 amended by changing Section 5 as follows:
 
6     (110 ILCS 365/5)  (from Ch. 127 1/2, par. 405)
7     Sec. 5. The Fire Service Institute shall:
8     1. Assist public and private fire departments in Illinois
9 through education, training, counseling, measurement and
10 evaluation services.
11     2. Conduct statewide, regional and local educational and
12 training programs in Illinois which will provide to the
13 firefighters, fire department officers and other persons
14 opportunities to comply with certification requirements of the
15 Division of Personnel Standards and Education in the Office of
16 the State Fire Marshal.
17     3. Offer programs of education and instruction, conducted
18 by a competent staff of full and part-time faculty.
19     4. Plan and conduct an annual Fire College and other short
20 courses of instruction.
21     5. Provide action-oriented research to support fire
22 training and education programs.
23     6. Develop and distribute instructional and evaluation
24 materials to support the fire training and education programs
25 offered by the Institute.
26     7. Develop mechanisms by which firefighters may earn
27 college credit and degrees in fire-related disciplines.
28     8. Develop and offer other programs and services consistent
29 with the general purposes of the Institute.
30     9. Plan, construct, operate and control such training
31 facilities and structures as may be necessary to conduct the
32 Institute's program.
