625 ILCS 5/12-611   from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 12-611

    Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that a violation of the provision prohibiting excessive sound amplification is a Class B misdemeanor.

1     AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing
5 Section 12-611 as follows:
 
6     (625 ILCS 5/12-611)  (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 12-611)
7     Sec. 12-611. Excessive sound amplification.
8     (a) No driver of any motor vehicle within this State shall
9 operate or permit operation of any sound amplification system
10 which can be heard outside the vehicle from 75 or more feet
11 when the vehicle is being operated upon a highway, unless such
12 system is being operated to request assistance or warn of a
13 hazardous situation.
14     (b) This Section does not apply to authorized emergency
15 vehicles.
16     (c) Any violation of the provisions of this Section is a
17 Class B misdemeanor shall be a petty offense punishable by a
18 fine not to exceed $50.
