SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of David R. Polivick of Granite City on January 3, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Polivick was born on March 4, 1951, in Carroll to John H. Polivick and Murrell Polivick Bumann; he married Donna Julian on April 15, 1972 in Granite City; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Polivick was a Granite City police officer for 15 years; after retiring from the force, he was director of the Granite City Park District for eight years; and

WHEREAS, He later became the Chouteau Island Project Manager for Southwestern Illinois Resource, Conservation and Development Inc., and most recently, he was the Executive Director of the Metro East Park and Recreation District; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Polivick was active in many community and civic organizations; he was a member of the Illinois Association of Park Districts and a Founder and Treasurer of the Board of Directors of Solid Granite, a nonprofit corporation advocating community development and civic growth, the Granite City Rotary Club, the Southern Illinois Greenways and Trails Steering Committee, the Illinois Trail Council, and the Illinois Conservation Congress, where he voted as a representative delegate; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of the Board of Regents and instructor for the Professional Developmental School for the Illinois Park and Recreation Association; and he was a member of Hope Luthern Church in Granite City; and

WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Donna; his daughter, April Polivick; his son, John Polivick; and his two sisters and brothers-in-law, Debbie and Tom Cassidy, and Susan and Gary Thompson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of David R. Polivick along with all who knew and loved him and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of David R. Polivick as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
