1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of
3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Mildred Marie
4 Lindsey of Chicago on October 20, 2002; and
5 WHEREAS, Mildred Lindsey was born on May 14, 1924 to the
6 late Levage and Eva Strong in Benton, Mississippi; she
7 accepted Christ at an early age; and
8 WHEREAS, On November 5, 1945, she was united in matrimony
9 to William Lindsey; to this union, eight children were born;
10 her husband precedes her in death; and
11 WHEREAS, Mrs. Lindsey worked as a Registered Nurse at the
12 Illinois Masonic Hospital for 20 years and at Roseland
13 Hospital for 15 years; she was a devoted, caring, and
14 nurturing mother to her children; and
15 WHEREAS, The passing of Mildred Marie Lindsey has been
16 deeply felt by all who knew her, especially her sons, William
17 Jr. (Denise), Douglas, Eric (Donna), Kedrick (Yvonne), and
18 Lawrence; her daughters, Gloria Jean, Patricia (Roosevelt),
19 and Theresa; her sisters, Minnie Pate (David) and Irma Jean
20 Strong; her brothers, Charlie Strong (Eula) and Levage
21 Strong, Jr. (Sandra); her 18 grandchildren; her 10
22 great-grandchildren; her great-great-grandchild; and a host
23 of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends;
24 therefore, be it
25 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
26 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing
27 of Mildred Marie Lindsey and express our sincere and deepest
28 sympathy to her family and friends; and be it further
29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
30 presented to the family of Mildred Marie Lindsey as an
31 expression of our condolences during their time of
