SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
225 ILCS 710/22  from Ch. 96 1/2, par. 4229

    Amends the Fluorspar Mines Act. Provides that the Department of Natural Resources shall, no later than July 1, 2026, create and maintain an online underground mine workings portal. Provides that the portal shall be accessible to the general public without a fee. Provides that the portal shall allow access to all maps filed with the Department of Natural Resources. Requires the portal to allow a user to locate underground mine workings maps by searching for a street address.

1    AN ACT concerning regulation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Fluorspar Mines Act is amended by changing
5Section 22 as follows:
 
6    (225 ILCS 710/22)  (from Ch. 96 1/2, par. 4229)
7    Sec. 22. (a) The operator of every mine shall make and
8maintain, or cause to be made or maintained by a competent
9mining engineer or surveyor, a clear and accurate map or maps,
10with sections, if necessary, showing all the working of such
11mine. Such map shall be filed with the Department of Natural
12Resources and shall be brought up to date by such operator at
13one year intervals from the date it is filed. Such map or maps
14shall show all excavations, all parts of said mine that have
15been worked out or abandoned, and all underground workings.
16    (b) The Department of Natural Resources shall, no later
17than July 1, 2026, create and maintain an online underground
18mine workings portal. The portal shall be accessible to the
19general public without a fee. The portal shall allow access to
20all maps filed with the Department of Natural Resources as
21required by this Section. The portal shall allow a user to
22locate underground mine workings maps by searching for a
23street address.
