SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

225 ILCS 60/9.4 new

Amends the Medical Practice Act of 1987. Provides that the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation shall review an applicant's application for a license to practice medicine under the Act concurrently with the applicant's application for a controlled substances registration. Requires the Department to issue an applicant's license and controlled substances registration concurrently. Effective immediately.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning regulation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Medical Practice Act of 1987 is amended by adding Section 9.4 as follows:

(225 ILCS 60/9.4 new)

Sec. 9.4. Review of an applicant's applications for licensure and controlled substances registration. The Department shall review an applicant's application for a license to practice medicine under this Act concurrently with the applicant's application for a controlled substances registration under Section 302 of the Illinois Controlled Substances Act. An applicant's license and controlled substances registration shall be issued concurrently.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
