SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Wilfred David "Bill" Corum of
4Frankfort, Kentucky, formerly of Pekin and Peoria, who passed
5away on February 24, 2024; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Bill Corum was born to Lloyd and Sallie Corum in
7Elmwood on January 13, 1932; he served in the U.S. Army during
8the Korean War; he married Shirley Joan Workman in
9Williamsfield on November 15, 1959; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Bill Corum worked as a line inspector for
11Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria for 40 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Bill Corum and his wife, Shirley, were members of
13United Auto Workers (UAW) Local 974 Retirees in East Peoria,
14where he served as secretary; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Bill Corum was a person of faith and a member of
16the Wesley United Methodist Church of Charleston; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Bill Corum was an outstanding woodworker,
18craftsman, and fixer, and he and his wife enjoyed working on
19many projects together at their home and in their yard; he
20enjoyed relaxing by watching television, movies, and music

1videos on YouTube; he loved telling good stories and quoting
2lines from his favorite movies; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Bill Corum was very funny, entertaining people
4with his wit and charm; he deeply loved his family, and he took
5great pride in teaching and providing for his children and
6grandchildren; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Bill Corum was preceded in death by his wife; his
8parents; his brother, Edward Corum; and his sisters, Lucille
9Green and Margaret Taylor; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Bill Corum is survived by his children, Jan
11(Dave) VanGorder and Rev. Tom (Stephanie) Corum; his
12grandchildren, Ashleigh (Donovan) Tilk, Jacqueline (Kelley
13Farley) Corum, and Benjamin Corum; his great-grandsons, Henry
14"Hank" Tilk and Wesley Tilk; and several nieces and nephews;
15therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18William David "Bill" Corum and extend our sincere condolences
19to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
20it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
