SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to extend their congratulations to the School District 108 Lake Park High School Competitive Dance Team, the Lancettes, for winning the 2023 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 3A State Championships; and

WHEREAS, This is the Lancettes' second consecutive state championship and third IHSA title overall; and

WHEREAS, In their past 11 consecutive trips to the IHSA state finals, the Lancettes have consistently placed in the top 10 dance teams in the State and have earned trophies six times, in 2014, 2015, 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2023; and

WHEREAS, The Lancettes have competed in the state championships every year since the IHSA began holding competitive dance competitions in 2013; and

WHEREAS, There were 77 teams that competed in the IHSA 3A Sectionals on January 21, 2023 at South Elgin High School, and 30 teams advanced to the championships; and

WHEREAS, This year's IHSA Competitive Dance Team State Championships were held on January 27 and January 28, 2023 in Bloomington at the Grossinger Motors Arena; and

WHEREAS, The head coach for the Lancettes is Francesca Leone, and the assistant coaches are Lauren O'Brien and Cassie Spear; and

WHEREAS, The Lancettes squad that competed at the state competition included Sophomore Alessia Bavaro, Sophomore Siena Bavaro, Senior Isabella Catalano, Senior Abigail Hatfield, Sophomore Sophie Hatfield, Sophomore Sophia Kazan, Senior Camryn Kellogg, Senior Talia Leuzzi, Sophomore Ashton Lovell, Senior Alexis McNally, Junior Ana T. Panagakis, Junior Emma Raymond, Junior Nikola Sawicki, Freshman Kerri Thoms, and Senior Giuliana Vasilevich; and

WHEREAS, The Lancettes ended the competition with a score of 97.87/100; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the School District 108 Lake Park High School Competitive Dance Team, the Lancettes, for winning the 2023 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 3A State Championships and applaud their dedication to their sport; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Lancettes as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
