SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert Bate "Bob" Applegate of Milan, who passed away on October 19, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Bob Applegate was born to Murray Bate and Alice Avery Applegate in Knoxville, Iowa on July 24, 1947; he graduated from Knoxville Senior High School and Iowa State University; he served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam; and

WHEREAS, Bob Applegate retired as a civilian human resources officer from the Rock Island Arsenal; at the time of his passing, he was the current owner of The Book Rack in the Quad Cities; and

WHEREAS, Bob Applegate was a former member of the Rock Island City Council; and

WHEREAS, Bob Applegate was an Eagle Scout, a member of the Order of the Eagle, and a former trustee of Rock Island First United Methodist Church; and

WHEREAS, Bob Applegate is survived by his wife, Claudia; his son, Alan (Nicole) Applegate; his daughter, Lara (Kevin) Koza; his grandchildren, Allison, Sydney, Gabriella, Paige, and Michael Robert; his brother, Arthur (Kathleen) Applegate; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert Bate "Bob" Applegate and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bob Applegate as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
