SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Paul Clifford Parker of Rock Island,
4who passed away on October 13, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Paul Parker was born to Clifford and Johanna
6(Wiersma) Parker in Garden Plain on January 29, 1933; he was
7raised in Lyons, Iowa; after graduating high school, he served
8in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War; he married Joyce
9Sipes, and together they raised three daughters; he earned his
10bachelor's degree from Carthage College; he later married
11Barbara Neumann; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Paul Parker worked as a welder for various
13farming companies; after earning his degree, he worked at
14Riverdale High School, where he taught math and coached
15various sports, including football; he concluded his career as
16the girls track coach and had a conference track meet named in
17his honor; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Paul Parker was preceded in death by his wife,
19Joyce; his daughter, Deb; his parents; and ten siblings; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Paul Parker is survived by his wife, Barbara; his
21daughters, Pam and Becky; his brother, Walt; several

1grandchildren; and his extended family and friends; therefore,
2be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Paul Clifford Parker and extend our sincere condolences to his
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Paul Parker as an expression of our
10deepest sympathy.
