SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Paul Clifford Parker of Rock Island, who passed away on October 13, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Paul Parker was born to Clifford and Johanna (Wiersma) Parker in Garden Plain on January 29, 1933; he was raised in Lyons, Iowa; after graduating high school, he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War; he married Joyce Sipes, and together they raised three daughters; he earned his bachelor's degree from Carthage College; he later married Barbara Neumann; and

WHEREAS, Paul Parker worked as a welder for various farming companies; after earning his degree, he worked at Riverdale High School, where he taught math and coached various sports, including football; he concluded his career as the girls track coach and had a conference track meet named in his honor; and

WHEREAS, Paul Parker was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; his daughter, Deb; his parents; and ten siblings; and

WHEREAS, Paul Parker is survived by his wife, Barbara; his daughters, Pam and Becky; his brother, Walt; several grandchildren; and his extended family and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Paul Clifford Parker and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Paul Parker as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
