SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marion Thompson of Aledo, who passed away on October 4, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Marion Thompson was born to Allan and Opal (Walton) Thompson in Mt. Vernon, Iowa on October 23, 1936; after high school, he joined the U.S. Navy; and

WHEREAS, Marion Thompson served the local community as an auxiliary policeman for many years; he also worked as a precision tool grinder for JI Case for 33 years; and

WHEREAS, Marion Thompson served as a scout leader and a rock hunter with the Edwards River Rock Club; and

WHEREAS, Marion Thompson enjoyed restoring tractors and lawn mowers, sandblasting, and gun collecting; and

WHEREAS, Marion Thompson was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Theodore Thompson; and

WHEREAS, Marion Thompson is survived by his wife, Kathryn Thompson; his children, Karen (Robert) Albert, Patricia Thompson, and Joshua Thompson; his grandchildren, Rob, Stephen, and Courtney; his brother, Eugene Thompson; his niece, Amber; and his nephew, Aaron; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Marion Thompson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marion Thompson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
