| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Marion Thompson of Aledo, who passed | 4 | | away on October 4, 2023; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Marion Thompson was born to Allan and Opal | 6 | | (Walton) Thompson in Mt. Vernon, Iowa on October 23, 1936; | 7 | | after high school, he joined the U.S. Navy; and | 8 | | WHEREAS, Marion Thompson served the local community as an | 9 | | auxiliary policeman for many years; he also worked as a | 10 | | precision tool grinder for JI Case for 33 years; and | 11 | | WHEREAS, Marion Thompson served as a scout leader and a | 12 | | rock hunter with the Edwards River Rock Club; and | 13 | | WHEREAS, Marion Thompson enjoyed restoring tractors and | 14 | | lawn mowers, sandblasting, and gun collecting; and | 15 | | WHEREAS, Marion Thompson was preceded in death by his | 16 | | parents and his brother, Theodore Thompson; and | 17 | | WHEREAS, Marion Thompson is survived by his wife, Kathryn | 18 | | Thompson; his children, Karen (Robert) Albert, Patricia | 19 | | Thompson, and Joshua Thompson; his grandchildren, Rob, |

| 1 | | Stephen, and Courtney; his brother, Eugene Thompson; his | 2 | | niece, Amber; and his nephew, Aaron; therefore, be it | 3 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 4 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 5 | | Marion Thompson and extend our sincere condolences to his | 6 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 7 | | further | 8 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 9 | | presented to the family of Marion Thompson as an expression of | 10 | | our deepest sympathy. |
