SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Barbara J. "Barb" Metz-Schwass of Decatur, who passed away on March 27, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Barb Metz-Schwass was born to Melvin Gene and Peggy R. (Craver) Metz in Fairbury on February 28, 1961; she married Glen Schwass in Decatur on May 18, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Barb Metz-Schwass worked as an analyst for State Farm Insurance for 38 years until her retirement; and

WHEREAS, Barb Metz-Schwass was always helping others and served as an EMT in Lexington and Leroy for many years; and

WHEREAS, Barb Metz-Schwass was a member of First United Methodist Church in Fairbury and, more recently, a member of Life Builders Church of God in Decatur; and

WHEREAS, Barb Metz-Schwass enjoyed horseback riding, spending time outdoors, working on the farm, and spending time with her sons, grandchildren, and friends; and

WHEREAS, Barb Metz-Schwass was preceded in death by her father and a sister who died in infancy, Susan Elizabeth Metz; and

WHEREAS, Barb Metz-Schwass is survived by her mother, Peggy Metz; her husband, Glen Schwass; her sons, Matthew (fiancée, Amanda Taylor) Metz and Evan Golliday; her stepchildren, Cathy Walters, Matthew (Kelly) Schwass, Kevin (Jaime) Schwass, Tara (Matthew) Daniels, Lance (Katie) Golliday, and Landon Golliday; her grandchildren, Austin, Antonio, Madyx, William, Reagan, Wyatt, Declan, Savannah, and Paisley; her sister, Sandra (John) Metz-McDermott; and her brother, Steven (Sherry) Metz; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Barbara J. "Barb" Metz-Schwass and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Barb Metz-Schwass as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
