SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Thérèse Ruddy Longley Anlauf of Palos
4Verdes Estates, California, who passed away on July 9, 2022;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Thérèse Anlauf was born to Walter and Annette
7Ruddy on May 21, 1926; she graduated from Madonna High School
8in Aurora; she studied at the College of St. Teresa in Winona,
9Minnesota for two years; she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts
10from Loyola Marymount University 40 years later; she first
11married Donald Halliwell Longley, and they had six children
12before he preceded her in death in 1965; she married Joseph F.
13Anlauf Jr., the father of five, in 1968; upon their marriage
14and family merger, they settled in River Forest and later
15moved to Palos Verdes Estates, California; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Thérèse Anlauf had many interests; she enjoyed
17knitting, needlepointing, painting, studying genealogy,
18camping, selling real estate, traveling the world, throwing
19clay pots, rebuilding a Michigan beach house, and, after
20studying Native American weaving, fashioning intricate baskets
21with the pine needles she fished out of the pool; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Thérèse Anlauf's journey through life was

1primarily about making memories with friends, parents,
2siblings, spouses, and especially her children and
3grandchildren; she will be remembered for being clever,
4creative, kind, beautiful, generous, good-hearted, gutsy, and
5ever optimistic; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Thérèse Anlauf was preceded in death by both of
7her husbands; and
 
8    WHEREAS, At the time of her passing, Thérèse Anlauf was
9survived by her daughters, Laura Longley, Sarah (Christopher)
10Lauzen, and Martha Longley; her sons, James (Vicki) Longley,
11Stephen (Alison Denis) Longley, and Halliwell (Denise)
12Longley; her stepdaughters, Christine (Charles) Sabatino,
13Celeste Anlauf, Sara Smith, and Julie (A. William) Wade; her
14stepson, Joseph (Karen) Anlauf; her 20 grandchildren; her 12
15great-grandchildren; and her many nieces, nephews, and
16friends, especially Ranelranz Bongayan and Kristine Espina;
17therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Thérèse Ruddy Longley Anlauf and extend our sincere
21condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
22her; and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2presented to the family of Thérèse Anlauf as an expression of
3our deepest sympathy.
