SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3congratulate Raymond A. "Ray" Altmix on his 50 years in
4community banking; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ray Altmix began his community banking career in
61973 when he served as a courier at Mercantile Trust & Savings
7Bank in Quincy and advanced to become the consumer loan
8department manager in 1976; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ray Altmix continued his career at four
10additional banks in Illinois, serving as vice president and
11senior vice president; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Ray Altmix moved to Marion to serve as President
13and CEO of The Bank of Marion in 1999, where he was also a
14member of the bank's board of directors; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Ray Altmix has led The Bank of Marion and The
16First Southern Bank's significant growth over the years from a
17150 million dollar bank with four locations to a one billion
18dollar bank serving a dozen communities with 18 locations and
19ever-increasing significant economic contributions to those
20Southern Illinois communities; and

1    WHEREAS, Ray Altmix has been actively involved in his
2communities and has served on many boards, including the State
3of Illinois United Way board as well as various local United
4Way boards; he has served in leadership positions supporting
5fundraising for charitable causes such as the Arthritis
6Foundation, for which he has been recognized on the national
7level; he has also been a member of various civic groups; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Ray Altmix has been actively involved as a member
9of the Community Bankers Association of Illinois (CBAI),
10serving as a board member and group director; he was named a
11CBAI Outstanding Member in 2010 and is dedicated to CBAI's
12mission of ensuring that community banks remain competitive
13for the benefit of their customers and the communities they
14serve through effective delivery of quality education,
15representation, and essential products and services;
16therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate
19Raymond A. "Ray" Altmix on his 50 years in community banking
20and wish him many more wonderful years; and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to Ray Altmix as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
