SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Norman E. Wollbrink of Sutter, who
4passed away on January 29, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Norman Wollbrink was born to Elmer and Jennie
6(Buckert) Wollbrink in Sutter on May 17, 1931; he graduated
7from Warsaw High School in 1949; he served in the U.S. Army
8during the Korean Conflict from 1952 until he was honorably
9discharged in 1954; he married Joyce Mae Waechter at Trinity
10United Church of Christ in Quincy on March 15, 1958; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Norman Wollbrink worked as a farmer in the Sutter
12area for most of his life; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Norman Wollbrink actively served his church and
14community in many ways; he belonged to the Bethlehem United
15Church of Christ in Sutter, where he served as a member of the
16board and a sexton of the church cemetery for many years; he
17was a 50-year member of the Lima Masonic Lodge and served as a
18Shriner clown of the Quincy Shrine Club; he was also a member
19of the Great River Ski Club, the Warsaw School Board, the
20Quincy Bicycle Club, the Quincy Consistory, the Hancock County
21Soil and Water Conservation Board, the Korean War Veterans,
22and the Warsaw American Legion; and

1    WHEREAS, In his free time, Norman Wollbrink enjoyed skiing
2and cycling; one of his life's favorite moments was the
3opportunity to participate in the Great River Honor Flight;
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, Norman Wollbrink was preceded in death by his
6parents and his brothers, Clarence and Herbert Wollbrink; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Norman Wollbrink is survived by his wife, Joyce;
8his sons, Bruce (Cyndy) Wollbrink, Brad (Brenda) Wollbrink,
9Kevin (Mindy) Wollbrink, and Kirk Wollbrink; his
10grandchildren, David (Melissa) Wollbrink, Hannah (Luke)
11Muegge, Josh (Taylor) Wollbrink, Brandon Wollbrink, and Jacob
12Wollbrink; his step-grandson, Justin Hainline; his
13great-grandchildren, Addison Wollbrink, Emma Wollbrink, and
14Cooper Wollbrink; and his great-grandchild due in March,
15Muegge; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Norman E. Wollbrink and extend our sincere condolences to his
19family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

1presented to the family of Norman Wollbrink as an expression
2of our deepest sympathy.
