SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

730 ILCS 5/5-8-1.4 new

Amends the Unified Code of Corrections. Provides that the Department of Corrections shall require drug screening of every offender committed to a Department facility and may provide appropriate drug treatment services to certain offenders based on the results of initial screening.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning criminal law.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Unified Code of Corrections is amended by adding Section 5-8-1.4 as follows:

(730 ILCS 5/5-8-1.4 new)

Sec. 5-8-1.4. Drug screening. The Department shall require drug screening of every offender committed to a Department facility and may provide appropriate drug treatment services to certain offenders based on the results of the initial screening. The Department shall adopt rules to implement this Section.
