SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
110 ILCS 330/6.8 new
210 ILCS 85/7.7 new

    Amends the University of Illinois Hospital Act and Hospital Licensing Act. Provides that a hospital shall maintain a metal detector at each point of entry into the hospital. Provides that a hospital shall ensure that all members of the public, other than the employees of the hospital who display proper credentials, who enter the hospital at a point of entry are subjected to screening by a metal detector. Provides that individuals subject to screening shall include, but not be limited to, individuals in wheelchairs. Defines "point of entry". Effective July 1, 2023.

1    AN ACT concerning regulation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The University of Illinois Hospital Act is
5amended by adding Section 6.8 as follows:
 
6    (110 ILCS 330/6.8 new)
7    Sec. 6.8. Metal detectors required. As used in this
8Section, "point of entry" means an entrance accessible to the
9public. "Point of entry" does not include ambulance entrances.
10    The University of Illinois Hospital shall maintain a metal
11detector at each point of entry into the University of
12Illinois Hospital. The University of Illinois Hospital shall
13ensure that all members of the public, other than the
14employees of the University of Illinois Hospital who display
15proper credentials, who enter the University of Illinois
16Hospital at a point of entry are subjected to screening by a
17metal detector. Individuals subject to screening under this
18Section shall include, but not be limited to, individuals in
19wheelchairs.
 
20    Section 10. The Hospital Licensing Act is amended by
21adding Section 7.7 as follows:

13    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1,
142023.
