SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 1505/1505-225 new

    Amends the Department of Labor Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that the Department of Labor shall adopt rules to ensure that professional musicians are guaranteed workplace protections consistent with protections guaranteed to other occupations. Defines "professional musician" as an individual musician or member of a band that earns $7,500 of income in a calendar year from sources related to his or her performance of music.

1    AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Department of Labor Law of the Civil
5Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by adding Section
61505-225 as follows:
 
7    (20 ILCS 1505/1505-225 new)
8    Sec. 1505-225. Protections for professional musicians. The
9Department shall adopt rules to ensure that professional
10musicians are guaranteed workplace protections consistent with
11protections guaranteed to other occupations. As used in this
12Section, "professional musician" means an individual musician
13or member of a band that earns $7,500 of income in a calendar
14year from sources related to his or her performance of music.
