SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
30 ILCS 105/5.990 new
30 ILCS 105/6z-139 new

    Amends the State Finance Act. Creates the Crime Laboratory Assistance Grant Fund. Provides that moneys in the Fund shall be used by the Illinois State Police to make grants to crime laboratories in this State that are not operated by the Illinois State Police for the operational costs of those crime laboratory facilities.

1    AN ACT concerning finance.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The State Finance Act is amended by adding
5Sections 5.990 and 6z-139 as follows:
 
6    (30 ILCS 105/5.990 new)
7    Sec. 5.990. The Crime Laboratory Assistance Grant Fund.
 
8    (30 ILCS 105/6z-139 new)
9    Sec. 6z-139. Crime Laboratory Assistance Grant Fund;
10creation.
11    (a) The Crime Laboratory Assistance Grant Fund is created
12as a special fund in the State treasury.
13    (b) Subject to appropriation, moneys in the Fund shall be
14used by the Illinois State Police to make grants to crime
15laboratories in this State that are not operated by the
16Illinois State Police for the operational costs of those crime
17laboratory facilities.
18    (c) Moneys received for the purposes of this Section,
19including, but not limited to, fee receipts, gifts, grants,
20and awards from any public or private entity, must be
21deposited into the Fund. Any interest earned on moneys in the
22Fund must be deposited into the Fund.

1    (d) The Illinois State Police may, by rule, set
2requirements for the distribution of grant moneys and
3determine which entities are eligible.
4    (e) Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the
5contrary, moneys in the Fund shall not be appropriated,
6assigned, or transferred to another State fund.
