SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
775 ILCS 5/5-103  from Ch. 68, par. 5-103

    Amends the Public Accommodations Article of the Illinois Human Rights Act. Removes a provision providing that nothing in the Article applies to a private club, or other establishment not in fact open to the public, except to the extent that the goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages, or accommodations of the establishment are made available to the customers or patrons of another establishment that is a place of public accommodation.

1    AN ACT concerning human rights.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Human Rights Act is amended by
5changing Section 5-103 as follows:
 
6    (775 ILCS 5/5-103)  (from Ch. 68, par. 5-103)
7    Sec. 5-103. Exemption. Nothing in this Article shall apply
8to:
9    (A) (Blank). Private Club. A private club, or other
10establishment not in fact open to the public, except to the
11extent that the goods, services, facilities, privileges,
12advantages, or accommodations of the establishment are made
13available to the customers or patrons of another establishment
14that is a place of public accommodation.
15    (B) Facilities Distinctly Private. Any facility, as to
16discrimination based on sex, which is distinctly private in
17nature such as restrooms, shower rooms, bath houses, health
18clubs and other similar facilities for which the Department,
19in its rules and regulations, may grant exemptions based on
20bona fide considerations of public policy.
21    (C) Inn, Hotel, Rooming House. Any facility, as to
22discrimination based on sex, which restricts the rental of
23rooms to individuals of one sex.
