SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

215 ILCS 5/143.24e new

Amends the Illinois Insurance Code. Provides that an insurer authorized to do business in the State may not use an individual's zip code in underwriting or rating insurance coverage, including the determination of premium rates.

AN ACT concerning regulation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by adding Section 143.24e as follows:

(215 ILCS 5/143.24e new)

Sec. 143.24e. Zip code prohibition. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, an insurer authorized to do business in this State may not use an individual's zip code in underwriting or rating insurance coverage, including the determination of premium rates.
