HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Commissioner William "Bill" Wright has served as
3a Commissioner of the Streamwood Park District for 15 years;
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, During that time, Commissioner Wright has served
6in various capacities, including as president, vice-president,
7ethics officer, and committee chairman; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Commissioner Wright is very passionate about
9finding the right solutions that can bring significant
10cultural change and make an impact for years to come; he is a
11man who values community and service to the community; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Commissioner Wright uses his personal
13relationships with the business community, state legislators,
14and other local officials and communities to secure funding
15for or action to improve the community and help others; this
16includes funding for facilities, parks and playgrounds, social
17awareness, and educational opportunities to preserve and
18expand our resources for future generations; and
 
19    WHEREAS, When Commissioner Wright is not working as a
20Managing Director or as an Executive Search Consultant for The
21Overture Group, he donates vast amounts of time and energy to

1focus on helping to improve the quality of life for others; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Commissioner Wright supports local youth and
3public education by serving as the Chairman of School
4District's U-46 Governing Board for Alignment Collaborative
5for Education; he is a big proponent of connecting the school
6district and students with the development of skills and
7education needed by Illinois-based businesses, and his efforts
8have positively affected nearly 40,000 students; most
9recently, his leadership and commitment helped to provide a
10very successful career exploration event held at the NOW arena
11for more than 2,700 eighth grade students; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Over the last few summers, Commissioner Wright
13helped establish and routinely volunteered at the Summer
14Reading in the Parks program, which provided free lunches and
15early childhood learning activities and materials; the program
16was immensely successful and is scheduled to return in 2023;
17and
 
18    WHEREAS, Commissioner Wright has volunteered as a park
19district soccer coach and utilizes his skills acquired in
20college playing for Lindenwood University in St. Louis; for
21the last few years, he served as the South Elgin High School
22Junior Varsity soccer coach and has had an impact on both
23players and families alike; and

1    WHEREAS, Commissioner Wright's actions led to the creation
2of a free Youth-at-Risk soccer program along with free teen
3programming and events, including basketball, concerts, and
4movies in the park; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Commissioner Wright helped develop the Streamwood
6beer festival and Oktoberfest that are well attended, with the
7proceeds earmarked for the park district scholarship program;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Commissioner Wright has assisted Santa for more
10than 25 years for the Streamwood Park District, the Village of
11Streamwood, and the Hoffman Estates Historical Sites
12Commission; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Commissioner Wright continues to serve as an
14usher for Mass at St. John the Evangelical Catholic Church in
15Streamwood, as he has done for many years; he is very well
16known by the parishioners and assists the Church in any way
17possible when asked; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Closer to home, Commissioner Wright is that
19neighbor on the block who helps keep everyone's driveway clear
20of snow in the winter and has served in various capacities
21helping the Village of Streamwood and surrounding communities;

2    WHEREAS, Commissioner Wright's leadership, personality,
3and actions clearly align with the legacy of the Mike Cassidy
4Community Service Award, which recognizes individuals who are
5doing something good for the community and contributing
6something to the future; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
8HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9we congratulate Commissioner William "Bill" Wright on
10receiving the Mike Cassidy Community Service Award; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to Commissioner Wright as a symbol of our esteem and
14respect.
