| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate the Jacksonville Country | 4 | | Club on its 100th anniversary; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Jacksonville Country Club was started on July | 6 | | 21, 1899 at its original location south of Mound Road, | 7 | | northwest of what is now the YMCA in Jacksonville; and | 8 | | WHEREAS, On May 1, 1924, the current location of the | 9 | | Jacksonville Country Club at 100 Country Club Road was | 10 | | purchased by the trustees of Jacksonville Country Club | 11 | | Estates, which included H.W. King, H.K. Chenoweth, A.H. | 12 | | Dollear, C.M. Bell, Paul D. Moriarty, Nelson McMurphy, James | 13 | | Elliot, C.Y. Rowe, and H.P. Samuell; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, The Jacksonville Country Club clubhouse and nine | 15 | | hole golf course opened on July 4th, 1925, followed by the | 16 | | tennis court built in 1928, the swimming pool completed in | 17 | | 1955, and the 18 hole golf course finished in 1966; and | 18 | | WHEREAS, The Jacksonville Country Club pro shop was built | 19 | | in 1977, followed by the formal dining room added in 1991 and | 20 | | the new swimming pool and bathhouse constructed in 1994; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, In 2023, the Centennial Fund was launched to | 2 | | address various projects, including updating the clubhouse | 3 | | together with the bar and fairway room, renovating the golf | 4 | | course bunkers, resurfacing the tennis and pickleball courts, | 5 | | purchasing a new golf cart fleet, upgrading computer software | 6 | | and hardware, improving the grounds and kitchen equipment, and | 7 | | retiring the mortgage; and | 8 | | WHEREAS, These improvements over the years, as well as the | 9 | | incredible members, administrators, and atmosphere, have made | 10 | | the Jacksonville Country Club one of the hidden gems of | 11 | | Illinois; therefore, be it | 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 13 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 14 | | we congratulate the Jacksonville Country Club on their | 15 | | centennial anniversary, and we wish the club continued success | 16 | | in the future; and be it further | 17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 18 | | presented to the Jacksonville Country Club as a symbol of our | 19 | | esteem and respect. |
