HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, A delegation of members from the Central Area Illinois Chapters of The Links, Incorporated will attend the organization's Illinois Links Legislative Day at the State Capitol on April 17, 2024; and

WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated is an international, not-for-profit corporation that was established in 1946 for the purposes of education, civic, and cultural enhancement; and

WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated has a membership of more than 17,000 professional women in 299 chapters located in 41 states, in the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, and the United Kingdom, who are influential decision makers and opinion leaders; and

WHEREAS, Members of The Links, Incorporated provide over one million service hours annually in five primary programmatic areas, known as Services to Youth, The Arts, National Trends and Services, International Trends and Services, and Health and Human Services; and

WHEREAS, The mission statement of The Links, Incorporated is "Friends Transforming Communities Through Service"; and

WHEREAS, The mission of The Links, Incorporated is realized daily in programs and service; and

WHEREAS, The legislative day at the Capitol is a component of transformational programming on legislative issues and public affairs for The Links, Incorporated; and

WHEREAS, The Central Area of The Links, Incorporated is comprised of 72 chapters in 17 states; and

WHEREAS, The Illinois Chapters represented include Central Illinois (IL) Chapter, Chicago (IL) Chapter, Gateway (IL) Chapter, Harbor Lites (IL) Chapter, Hoffman Estates (IL) Chapter, Lake Shore (IL) Chapter, North Shore (IL) Chapter, Quad Cities (IL) Chapter, South Suburban Chicago (IL) Chapter, Tri-County (IL) Chapter, Windy City (IL) Chapter, and West Towns (IL) Chapter; and

WHEREAS, Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton and Representatives Rita Mayfield and Kimberly du Buclet are active members; and

WHEREAS, The theme of Illinois Links Day at the State Capitol is "Illuminate Illinois: Linking Up The Vote to Issues Impacting Our Communities"; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare April 17, 2024 as Links Day in Illinois and congratulate Central Area Director Sheila R. Brown and the members on their unwavering commitment to service; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Central Area Director Sheila R. Brown as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
