HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of its founding; and

WHEREAS, The Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce was incorporated on October 4, 1924 with the purpose of advancing the civic, industrial, commercial, and agricultural interests of the City of Belleville and St. Clair County; and

WHEREAS, The Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce had several name changes over the years and were known at first as the Belleville Chamber of Commerce, then as the Belleville Area Chamber of Commerce, and, after a merger, as Belleville Economic Progress Inc., before installing its current name in 2001; and

WHEREAS, The Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce currently has more than 500 members; and

WHEREAS, The Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce supports and advances business and community interests, as well as the quality of life in Belleville and surrounding communities; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce on its 100th anniversary, and we wish them many more successful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
