HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Iron Workers Local 392 of the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers on the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Iron Workers Local 392 has been a leader in the construction industry for a century, with the organization currently representing nearly 650 members in southwestern Illinois who are trained in the industry's latest iron working and safety standards; the organization covers 20 full and partial counties in Illinois, providing the safest and most productive workforce in the Metro East area; and

WHEREAS, On April 10, 1924, Iron Workers Local 392 was established in East St. Louis with the objective to enhance the standard of living, wages, working conditions, and job security; in the subsequent years, the organization effectively served the purpose for which it was founded, improving the future of its members, thus providing inspiration for ironworkers in other parts of the country; and

WHEREAS, Through persistence and relentless pursuit for a higher standard of living, better benefits, and conditions, Iron Workers Local 392 has endured and overcome a great deal in its 100-year history, permitting today's members to enjoy a safe workplace, an excellent hourly wage, superior health and welfare benefits, a generous pension and annuity, and vacation; and

WHEREAS, Ironworkers are known as the "cowboys in the sky", building safely and skillfully while ensuring the production of quality private, state, and federally-funded projects, including the Rebuild Illinois program; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Iron Workers Local 392 of the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers on its 100th anniversary; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we thank Iron Workers Local 392, its officers, and its members for their invaluable work to make Illinois a leading state in world-class infrastructure for generations to come; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to Iron Workers Local 392 and its officers as an expression of our esteem and respect.
