HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, In March of 2020, the State of Illinois was ordered into a work from home posture in response to the COVID-19 pandemic; and

WHEREAS, The tools and processes that were put in place in response to the pandemic began immediately to provide remote capability to employees who were delivering a myriad of services to Illinois residents in every corner of the State; and

WHEREAS, Traditionally, State employees worked almost exclusively from the office; and

WHEREAS, Remote work has now become a permanent part of many State jobs; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that the Auditor General is directed to conduct a management audit of the impact of remote work on productivity and efficacies within State agencies; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we direct the Auditor General to commence this audit as soon as possible and report his findings and recommendations upon completion in accordance with the provisions of Section 3-14 of the Illinois State Auditing Act; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Auditor General is urged to report its findings and recommendations to the General Assembly by December 31, 2024; and be it further

RESOLVED, That all State agencies or other entities having information relevant to this audit are urged to cooperate fully and promptly with the Auditor General's Office in the conduct of this audit; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be delivered to the Auditor General, the Department Central Management Services, and the Office of Governor.
