HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Leadership Council Southwestern Illinois on the occasion of its 40th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, The Leadership Council Southwestern Illinois was chartered in 1983; and

WHEREAS, The Leadership Council Southwestern Illinois serves over 230 members who are leaders in industry, education, military interests, and government throughout Southwestern Illinois; and

WHEREAS, The Leadership Council Southwestern Illinois serves as a uniting entity for institutions throughout the Metro East, covering the counties of Bond, Calhoun, Clinton, Jersey, Macoupin, Madison, Monroe, St. Clair, and Washington; and

WHEREAS, The Leadership Council Southwestern Illinois helps unify the region for growth by taking an active role in promoting the general welfare, economic development, and image of Southwestern Illinois through efforts led by its nine committees, which include Economic Development, Military Affairs, Public Policy, Southwestern Illinois Transportation Enhancement, Levee Issues Alliance, Membership Communications, Education, Agriculture, and Workforce Development; and

WHEREAS, The Leadership Council Southwestern Illinois boasts many accomplishments in support of the region, including the reaccreditation of the Southwestern Illinois Levee System, receiving three Abilene Trophies for building a strong and vibrant community surrounding Scott Air Force Base, catalyzing economic growth through a regional development plan, and leading numerous major infrastructure projects, including major river bridge improvements in the last decade; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Leadership Council Southwestern Illinois on its 40th anniversary, and we wish the council continued success in uniting the region for growth for many years to come; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Leadership Council Southwestern Illinois as an expression of our respect and esteem.
