HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the publication FarmWeek on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, FarmWeek was founded as a weekly service of the Illinois Farm Bureau at the bureau's home office in Bloomington on June 10, 1974, with the publication consequently being printed at P&P Press in Peoria each Friday for circulation the following Monday; and

WHEREAS, FarmWeek was created as a weekly publication designed to inform Illinois farmers and agricultural enthusiasts alike of the current issues and policies facing agriculture in Illinois and therefore to help readers make well-informed decisions in regards to their respective farms; and

WHEREAS, Covering commodity markets and weather reports, FarmWeek has continued to provide accurate and up-to-date information through an ever-changing information landscape by offering print as well as online services along with RFD Radio Network reports; and

WHEREAS, Agriculture has a special place in the Illinois economy, accounting for roughly $51.1 billion annually and employing nearly 1 million workers while producing a wide range of products from food for consumption to biofuels; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare June 10, 2024 as FarmWeek Appreciation Day in the State of Illinois; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we congratulate FarmWeek on its 50th anniversary, and we wish the publication continued success; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the staff of FarmWeek as an expression of our esteem and respect.
