HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dallas
4Ingemunson, who passed away on November 4, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dallas Ingemunson was born to Clare and Dorothy
6Ingemunson in Sandwich on May 23, 1938; he studied locally and
7graduated from Newark High School; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Dallas Ingemunson received a bachelor's degree in
9electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at
10Urbana-Champaign and a Juris Doctor from DePaul Law School in
111965; and
 
12    WHEREAS, As a member of the Illinois Bar Association,
13Dallas Ingemunson began practicing as an Assistant State's
14Attorney of Kendall County; he was mentored by the elected
15chief of his office, Robert Ohse; and
 
16    WHEREAS, After Robert Ohse died in office, Dallas
17Ingemunson was selected by the Kendall County Board to serve
18as State's Attorney of Kendall County; he was then elected by
19his neighbors to serve a full term and subsequently served six
20terms as the prosecutorial law officer of his fast-growing
21county; and

1    WHEREAS, Dallas Ingemunson was chosen by his fellow
2Republicans to be the Republican County Chairperson of Kendall
3County; during his chairmanship, Kendall County was one of the
4most Republican counties in the State of Illinois; for
5example, in the 1984 United States Presidential Election,
6President Ronald Reagan carried Kendall County with 73.8% of
7the vote, the fourth-highest percentage among all the counties
8in Illinois in that year; and
 
9    WHEREAS, As a leader of his political party, Dallas
10Ingemunson served as treasurer of the Republican Party of
11Illinois and as interim chairperson of the Illinois Republican
12Party; and
 
13    WHEREAS, As a state's attorney, Dallas Ingemunson led the
14charge to create the Office of the Illinois State's Attorneys
15Appellate Prosecutor, the Springfield-based office that
16assists in prosecuting criminal cases when requested to do so
17and at the direction of a state's attorney, and was solely
18prosecuting criminal cases when duly appointed by a court
19having jurisdiction; and
 
20    WHEREAS, The dedicated personnel of this office, which
21Dallas Ingemunson helped to create, have played a key role in
22the prosecutions of some of Illinois' worst criminal acts; and

1    WHEREAS, As state's attorney and as county chairman of his
2party, Dallas Ingemunson was a friend to many and a mentor to a
3surprising number; former House Republican Leader Tom Cross,
4who also shares Kendall County heritage, is high among those
5who knew him as a close friend and guide; and
 
6    WHEREAS, In 1996, Dallas Ingemunson moved from public
7service into the private practice of law, a vocation in which
8he continued his work, buttressed his standing as a Kendall
9County community leader, and added to his lengthening list of
10friends; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Many Illinoisans of all political persuasions can
12remember Dallas Ingemunson telling stories about the quirks of
13Illinois life with many of the best stories only being told at
14fishing lakes and camps with some of these stories getting
15better each time they were told; and
 
16    WHEREAS, While working hard as a student in law school,
17Dallas Ingemunson married his true love and partner, Dodie
18Ingemunson on October 5, 1963; they were together for more
19than 60 years, and by the end of their journey, they had three
20sons, Gregg, Kirk, and Boyd, two daughters-in-law, Kate and
21Kathy, and ten grandchildren, as well as countless friends and
22kinsfolk; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
2HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3we mourn the passing of Dallas Ingemunson and extend our
4sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
5and loved him; and be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to
7Dodie Ingemunson as our expression of sorrow at his loss and in
8remembrance of his service to the people of Kendall County and
9of Illinois.
