HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Camp Point Central High School football team, the Panthers, on winning the 2023 Illinois High School Association Class 1A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, The Panthers defeated Lena-Winslow High School 14 to 0 on November 24, 2023 at Hancock Stadium on the campus of Illinois State University in Bloomington; and

WHEREAS, The Panthers and Lena-Winslow High School both compiled undefeated seasons on their path to the championship game; and

WHEREAS, The Panthers achieved their fifth defensive shutout of the season and dethroned a Lena-Winslow team seeking its fourth straight state title; and

WHEREAS, Achieving a second place finish in 2018 and 2022, this is the Panthers first state title; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Camp Point Central High School football team, the Panthers, on winning the 2023 Illinois High School Association Class 1A State Championship, and we wish them many more successful seasons; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Panthers as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
