HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate First Deputy Director
4Matthew J. Davis on the occasion of his retirement from the
5Illinois State Police; and
 
6    WHEREAS, FDD. Davis was appointed to Cadet Class 96 at the
7ISP Academy in November of 1998; he graduated in April of 1999
8and served with patrol in the Chicago district until April of
92000 when he transferred to become a crime scene investigator
10with the Crime Scene Services Command; and
 
11    WHEREAS, FDD. Davis was promoted to sergeant in December
12of 2005 when he became a forensic anthropologist; he was
13promoted to master sergeant in October of 2008 when he was with
14District 11 - Patrol; he was promoted to the chief of staff for
15the Division of Forensic Services in July of 2011 and to
16lieutenant in April of 2012 as the commander of Crime Scene
17Services Command; and
 
18    WHEREAS, FDD. Davis was promoted to lieutenant colonel for
19the Division of Administration in September of 2013, where he
20implemented the Firearm Concealed Carry Act and modernized the
21FOID Card system; and

1    WHEREAS, FDD. Davis was promoted to lieutenant colonel in
2the Division of Forensic Services in January of 2018, where he
3implemented a new laboratory information system (LIMS); and
 
4    WHEREAS, FDD. Davis was promoted to first deputy director
5in February of 2019; during his tenure, the ISP underwent a
6massive modernization and reorganization, the first since
71985; and
 
8    WHEREAS, FDD. Davis served as first deputy director during
9the centennial celebration of the ISP; and
 
10    WHEREAS, FDD. Davis' career is one of integrity, service,
11and pride; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we congratulate First Deputy Director Matthew J. Davis on his
15retirement from the Illinois State Police; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to FDD. Davis as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
