HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Schulze & Burch
4Biscuit Company on the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Schulze & Burch's 100-year history is filled with
6innovation, historic accomplishments, and wholesome snacks,
7all powered by excellent teamwork; and
 
8    WHEREAS, In 1923, Paul Schulze created the Paul Schulze
9Biscuit Company, and the Burch Biscuit Company was organized
10as a subsidiary in 1933; the companies were combined, and the
11name was changed to the Schulze & Burch Biscuit Company in
121939; and
 
13    WHEREAS, After spending much of World War II doing
14contract work for the Army, Schulze & Burch returned their
15focus to high quality consumer products and introduced the
16Flavor Kist brand of cookies and crackers; and
 
17    WHEREAS, In 1964, the very first toaster pastries were
18produced by Schulze & Burch under the brand name Toast'em;
19these pastries are made with freshly prepared fillings and
20include a tender, flaky crust; Schulze & Burch is the largest
21supplier of private label toaster pastries in the world; and

1    WHEREAS, In 1975, Schulze & Burch made the first ever mass
2produced granola bar; the company makes a variety of granola
3bar types, including crunchy, chewy, enrobed, and even
4cereal-based; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Schulze & Burch helped introduce cereal bars to
6the market; the cereal bar's portability and convenience make
7them a favorite among consumers with a more active lifestyle;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, With more than 60 years of experience in contract
10manufacturing and more than 50 years of experience in private
11label, Schulze & Burch knows how to find the solutions to help
12a product succeed; and
 
13    WHEREAS, The quality and food safety systems of Schulze &
14Burch meet the strictest global standards and are
15independently verified; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Schulze & Burch's three facilities comprise over
17one million square feet and can produce a variety of baked,
18formed, and blended products; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Schulze & Burch's full service research and
20development lab can assist in the development of new products

1from concept to bench top to production; and
 
2    WHEREAS, At the one of a kind pilot plant of Schulze &
3Burch, a person can test, sample, and begin initial production
4on new products; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Through long-term partnerships in the food
6industry, Schulze & Burch can help strengthen consumer
7loyalties, enhance efficiency, and build profitability by
8providing superior products and services at competitive
9prices; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Schulze & Burch believes in conducting business
11in a constructive and ethical manner that is mutually
12profitable for customers, employees, their suppliers, and the
13community; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Schulze & Burch's commitment to the values of
15quality, credibility, and cost effectiveness and to their
16employees are the keys to the company's success; therefore, be
17it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
19HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
20we congratulate the Schulze & Burch Biscuit Company on the
21occasion of its 100th anniversary; and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2delivered to the Schulze & Burch Biscuit Company as a symbol of
3our esteem and respect.
