HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to recognize McHenry County on the
4occasion of its participation in Operation Green Light for
5Veterans in an effort to further support veterans and their
6families; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Veterans swear an oath to defend the U.S.
8Constitution against enemies foreign and domestic, and they
9have repeatedly put themselves in harm's way to fulfill this
10oath; it is important to support and acknowledge the
11sacrifices veterans and their families have made in carrying
12out this oath; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Countless Americans throughout history have given
14their lives in service to the defense of the U.S. Constitution
15and the founding principles of this country; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Many veterans have suffered trauma and loss as a
17result of fulfilling the oath they took on induction day,
18including serving through combat, handling the relocation of
19their families, and experiencing the loss of their
20communities; and
 
21    WHEREAS, The security of the United States depends on the

1strength of our Armed Forces and the men and women who continue
2to step forward and volunteer to do their duty, endangering
3their lives to defend our shores in the process; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Veterans often need help assimilating back into
5civilian life through the use of local, state, and federal
6resources, providing intervention specially designed to
7address the impact of military service; and
 
8    WHEREAS, The National Association of Counties encourages
9all counties, parishes, and boroughs to recognize November 6
10through November 12, 2023 as Operation Green Light for
11Veterans to raise awareness of the unique challenges many
12veterans face and the resources available at the county,
13state, and federal levels to assist veterans and their
14families; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
16HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
17we recognize McHenry County for its participation in Operation
18Green Light for Veterans and its continued support for
19veterans and their families; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That, in observance of Veterans Day and
21Operation Green Light for Veterans, we encourage the residents
22of Illinois to recognize and honor all veterans who have made

1immeasurable contributions and sacrifices to preserve freedom
2by displaying a green light in a window of their business or
3residence; and be it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That we encourage the residents of Illinois to
5honor the service, courage, and sacrifice of every veteran,
6service member, and their families.
