HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Ernest
4R. "Ernie" Floyd of Waterford, Wisconsin, who passed away on
5April 10, 2023; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Ernest Floyd was born to Clarence and Marie
7(Miller) Floyd in Tishomingo County, Mississippi on October
821, 1929; he married Veda Long in Luka, Mississippi on July 3,
91949; he lived in Wheeler, Mississippi and Spring Grove,
10Illinois before eventually settling in Waterford, Wisconsin;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Ernest Floyd worked for the Johns Manville
13Corporation, a company committed to manufacturing
14premium-quality insulation, commercial roofing, and building
15materials, for many years before his retirement; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Ernest Floyd and his wife became active members
17of Lakeland Baptist Church in Lake Villa, Illinois in 1952;
18and
 
19    WHEREAS, Ernest Floyd enjoyed an array of hobbies,
20including operating his amateur radio, camping, and fishing;
21he especially loved spending time with his family and telling

1stories and jokes to his grandchildren and
2great-grandchildren, who will pass them on; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Ernest Floyd was preceded in death by his wife of
471 years, Veda; his parents; his daughter, Jeanie Jonker; and
5his brother, Bob Floyd; and
 
6    WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Ernest Floyd was
7survived by his children, Betty (Diane) Gagnebin, Ken Floyd,
8and Gary (Jenise) Floyd; his siblings, Colene Wright and Ben
9Floyd; his sister-in-law, Sheila Floyd; 10 grandchildren; 14
10great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and many nieces,
11nephews, other relatives, and friends; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we mourn the passing of Ernest R. "Ernie" Floyd and extend our
15sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
16and loved him; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Ernest Floyd as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
