HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Larry's House of Cakes of Marion on the occasion of its six decades of serving the community with delectable desserts; and

WHEREAS, Larry's House of Cakes was opened by Larry Clayton in May 1963; the shop initially served doughnuts before offering birthday cakes, which became the shop's most popular item; and

WHEREAS, Today, Larry's House of Cakes is under the leadership of Larry Clayton's sons, Neil, David, and Dale, and offers a vast assortment of pastries and baked goods, including brownies, cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and chocolate covered bacon; and

WHEREAS, Larry's House of Cakes has become especially renowned for its pink cookies, which are popular with everyone, from the casual foodie to the dessert connoisseur; and

WHEREAS, Larry's House of Cakes has remained a family-owned and operated business for the past 60 years, an accomplishment rarely achieved; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Larry's House of Cakes on its 60th anniversary, and we congratulate brothers Neil, David, and Dale Clayton on continuing their father's legacy and the family business; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we wish Larry's House of Cakes continued success in the pursuit of its mission to bring consistent, delicious, freshly baked goods to the people of southern Illinois; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Clayton family as an expression of our esteem and respect.
