HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jeannine Ellen (Mason) Black of Mahomet, who passed away on July 4, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Jeannine Black was born in Bloomington to Harold and Alma (Ehrlich) Mason on November 2, 1939; she attended Trinity Lutheran School in Bloomington, graduated from Champaign High School in 1957, and attended the University of Illinois; she married James L. Black at St. John Lutheran Church in Champaign on January 28, 1961; and

WHEREAS, Jeannine Black loved her family and always put them first; and

WHEREAS, Jeannine Black enjoyed gardening and was an excellent cook, famous for her angel food cake; she was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals; and

WHEREAS, Jeannine Black was preceded in death by her parents; and

WHEREAS, Jeannine Black is survived by her husband, Jim; her son, Jeffrey (Wendy) Black; her daughter, Julie (Derk) Taylor; her son, Scott (Diane) Black; her daughter, Pamela (Brian) Klepzig; her son, Mark (Cheryl) Black; her daughter, Jennifer (Joel) Tanner; her grandchildren, Ian Black, Evan (Christina) Black, Sean Black, Grant Taylor, Blake Taylor, Grace Taylor, Lauren Black, Megan Black, Mason Klepzig, Logan Klepzig, Madeleine Klepzig, Gretchen Klepzig, Brendan Black, Emily Black, Anna Black, Ryan Tanner, and Colin Tanner; her great-grandchild, Shiloh Black; her sister, Darlene Szymaniak; and her brother, Howard (Nancy) Mason; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jeannine Ellen (Mason) Black and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jeannine Black as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
