HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives wish to congratulate Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Church of Cicero on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of its founding; and

WHEREAS, Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Church has been a pillar in the Chicago region for over 60 years, having been established in 1963 on the west side of Chicago in 1963, in Oak Park in 1966, and in Cicero in 1984; and

WHEREAS, Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Church, as the Shrine of the Miraculous Weeping Icon, has brought joy and hope for many Orthodox Christians, including visitors from all over the world traveling to visit the Miraculous Weeping Icon; and

WHEREAS, Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Church, through dozens of ministries and programs, serves approximately 1,000 families scattered across the Chicagoland area that have overcome tragedy and adversity and continue to face many challenges; and

WHEREAS, Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Church has taken a leadership role among churches and organizations for decades, and now, is looking to the future to continue its legacy of growth; and

WHEREAS, The Arab-American Christian community has contributed to the Chicago region for over 150 years; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Church of Cicero on the 60th anniversary of its founding, and we wish them many more wonderful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Church as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
