HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to recognize the actions of Emergency Medical Service (EMS) workers, law enforcement, and line workers in response to the deadly tornado that struck Crawford County on March 31, 2023; and

WHEREAS, On the evening of March 31, 2023, an EF-3 tornado struck Crawford County, killing three people and injuring eight as the tornado crossed an area near Robinson; and

WHEREAS, The tornado split the telecommunications building at Lincoln Trail College in half and hit Crawford County Airport directly, throwing airplanes across nearby cropland; and

WHEREAS, The tornado additionally destroyed at least 25 homes and damaged up to 50 more; and

WHEREAS, The fast responses of EMS workers, law enforcement, and line workers saved lives and restored critical services to the community under challenging circumstances; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the actions of Emergency Medical Service (EMS) workers, law enforcement, and line workers in response to the deadly tornado that struck Crawford County on March 31, 2023; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be delivered to the Crawford County Emergency Management Agency, the Crawford County Board, and the Mayor of Robinson.
