HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Metamora Township High School boys basketball team, the Redbirds, on winning the Illinois High School Association 2022-23 Class 3A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, The Redbirds defeated Simeon Career Academy of Chicago in the championship game by a score of 46 to 41 in overtime; and

WHEREAS, The Redbirds shared the overall number one ranking with Simeon; and

WHEREAS, The Redbirds compiled a record of 34 wins and 2 losses and an undefeated conference record of 14 wins and 0 losses on their way to the championship; and

WHEREAS, The Redbirds are coached by Danny Grieves, Justin Dehm, Mike Brockhouse, Patrick Vaughan, Jordan Dehm, and Jake Springer; the athletic director is Jared Hart, and the team managers are Nick Sprout and Dru Grieves; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Redbirds are Sam Begole, Briar Cremeens, Devin Dunn, Avery Grebner, Ashton Grieves, Kaden Hartnett, Jack Hessing, Luke Hopp, Ethan Kizer, Tyler Mason, Kendrick Schaffrin, Tyson Swanson, Drew Tucker, Nick Walker, Matthew Zobrist, Noah Taylor, Collin Ramage, and Jake Walker; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Metamora Township High School boys basketball team, the Redbirds, on winning the Illinois High School Association 2022-23 Class 3A State Championship, and we wish them many more successful seasons; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the coaches and players of the Metamora Township High School boys basketball team as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
