HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Sheila Hill-Demery, who passed away on August 25, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Sheila Hill-Demery was born in Chicago to Charles and Mattie Hill on August 23, 1965; she lived in California for a time before returning to Chicago in her mid-20s; and

WHEREAS, Sheila Hill-Demery began her career in healthcare as a medical assistant; she then returned to school and graduated with her associate's degree in nursing from Olive-Harvey College; and

WHEREAS, Sheila Hill-Demery continued her education by earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain College in 2017; during her career as a registered nurse, she worked at various hospitals before finding a permanent home with Cermack Health in the early 2000s, where she found joy in being one of the best nurses; after over 20 years of service, she received well-deserved recognition for her hard work and dedication to nursing; and

WHEREAS, Sheila Hill-Demery was a phenomenal mother to her children and many others; she lived life to the fullest and was not afraid to show the world who she was; some of her favorite activities included making memories with her daughters and grandchildren, hosting family parties, and spending time with her four-legged daughter, Lexie; and

WHEREAS, Sheila Hill-Demery enjoyed helping others and brightening people's lives; she always encouraged everyone to put their best foot forward and not dwell on things out of their control; those who knew her understood that she was never one to sugarcoat her words, and she did not hold back when giving advice; and

WHEREAS, Sheila Hill-Demery was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Nicole; and

WHEREAS, At the time of her passing, Sheila Hill-Demery was survived by her daughters, Kiah (Malcolm) and Remiyah; her fur daughter, Lexie; her grandchildren, Mylah and Michael; her God children, Kenyonnia and Kesha; her extended children, Marcus, Shantel, Samariah, Saarah, and Sumaiyah; her brother, Ernest and Terrance; her siblings in Christ, Corinthia and Harvey; her first cousins, Tam and Nikeya; her childhood friends, Tracy and Rob; and numerous of nieces, nephews, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Sheila Hill-Demery and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Sheila Hill-Demery as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
