HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Raymond "Ray" A. Altmix has served the citizens of Illinois as a community banker for 50 years; and

WHEREAS, Ray Altmix began his community banking career in 1973 when he served as a courier at Mercantile Trust & Savings Bank in Quincy, Illinois and advanced to become the consumer loan department manager in 1976; and

WHEREAS, Ray Altmix continued his career at four additional banks in Illinois, serving as vice president and senior vice president; and

WHEREAS, Ray Altmix moved to Marion, Illinois to serve as President and CEO of The Bank of Marion in 1999, where he was also a member of the bank's board of directors; and

WHEREAS, Ray Altmix has led The Bank of Marion and The First Southern Bank's significant growth over the years from a 150 million dollar bank with four locations to a one billion dollar bank serving a dozen communities with 18 locations and ever-increasing significant economic contributions to those Southern Illinois communities; and

WHEREAS, Ray Altmix has been actively involved in his communities by serving on many boards, including the State of Illinois United Way board as well as various local United Way boards; he has served in leadership positions supporting fundraising for charitable causes such as the Arthritis Foundation, for which he has been recognized on the national level; he has also been a member of various civic groups; and

WHEREAS, Ray Altmix has been actively involved as a member of the Community Bankers Association of Illinois (CBAI) as a board member and group director; he was named a CBAI Outstanding Member in 2010 and is dedicated to CBAI's mission of ensuring that community banks remain competitive for the benefit of their customers and the communities they serve through effective delivery of quality education, representation, and essential products and services; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Raymond A. Altmix on his 50 years in community banking and wish him many more wonderful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be provided to Ray Altmix as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
