HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Raymond "Ray" A. Altmix has served the citizens
3of Illinois as a community banker for 50 years; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Ray Altmix began his community banking career in
51973 when he served as a courier at Mercantile Trust & Savings
6Bank in Quincy, Illinois and advanced to become the consumer
7loan department manager in 1976; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Ray Altmix continued his career at four
9additional banks in Illinois, serving as vice president and
10senior vice president; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Ray Altmix moved to Marion, Illinois to serve as
12President and CEO of The Bank of Marion in 1999, where he was
13also a member of the bank's board of directors; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Ray Altmix has led The Bank of Marion and The
15First Southern Bank's significant growth over the years from a
16150 million dollar bank with four locations to a one billion
17dollar bank serving a dozen communities with 18 locations and
18ever-increasing significant economic contributions to those
19Southern Illinois communities; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Ray Altmix has been actively involved in his

1communities by serving on many boards, including the State of
2Illinois United Way board as well as various local United Way
3boards; he has served in leadership positions supporting
4fundraising for charitable causes such as the Arthritis
5Foundation, for which he has been recognized on the national
6level; he has also been a member of various civic groups; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Ray Altmix has been actively involved as a member
8of the Community Bankers Association of Illinois (CBAI) as a
9board member and group director; he was named a CBAI
10Outstanding Member in 2010 and is dedicated to CBAI's mission
11of ensuring that community banks remain competitive for the
12benefit of their customers and the communities they serve
13through effective delivery of quality education,
14representation, and essential products and services;
15therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
17HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
18we congratulate Raymond A. Altmix on his 50 years in community
19banking and wish him many more wonderful years; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22provided to Ray Altmix as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
