HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Nan Buckardt, Director of Education at the Lake County Forest Preserves, on being part of the 2022 class of the Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame; and

WHEREAS, Since 2002, the Illinois Conservation Foundation (ICF) has recognized Illinoisans for their significant contributions and unparalleled dedication to preserving, promoting, enhancing, or supporting natural resources and outdoor recreation opportunities; and

WHEREAS, Nan Buckardt is an educator, conservation advocate, and leader from Libertyville and has dedicated the last 30-plus years of her career to inspiring thousands of people to preserve and protect the natural world; she helped found Chicago Wilderness and the Lake County Nature Network; and

WHEREAS, As Director of Education for the Lake County Forest Preserves, Nan Buckardt is responsible for managing education about the environment and Lake County history, including educational programming, interpretive exhibitions, acquiring and caring for historic collections, and conducting original research; she previously served as a manager of Environmental Education before being promoted to her current position; and

WHEREAS, Nan Buckardt is a member of the North American Association of Environmental Education, the Environmental Education Association of Illinois, and the Chicago Wilderness Education team; and

WHEREAS, Nan Buckardt received her bachelor's degree in Zoology from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and her master's degree in Education from Northern Illinois University; and

WHEREAS, Nan Buckardt enjoys birding and hiking preserve trails; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Nan Buckardt on being part of the 2022 class of the Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Nan Buckardt as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
