HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Knights of Columbus Police Council #12173 is the
3only one of over 17,500 Knights of Columbus Councils in the
4world that is comprised of former and current law enforcement
5members and active and former military; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Knights of Columbus Police Council #12173 is an
7elite organization; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Knights of Columbus Police Council #12173 is
9composed of Roman Catholic men ages 18 and older who are "in
10union with the Holy See," accept the teaching authority of the
11Catholic Church in regards to faith and morality, aspire "to
12live in accord with the precepts of the Catholic Church," and
13are within good standing in the Church; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Knights of Columbus Police Council #12173 also
15provides financial, as well as other, assistance, to groups
16every year, including Misericordia, the National Alliance for
17Mental Illness, Gold Star Families, Tunnel to Towers for
18Veterans, St. Baldrick's Cancer Research, Little Sisters for
19the Poor, Special Olympics, and the Daley Plaza Nativity Scene
20Committee, among other organizations; and
 
21    WHEREAS, The works of Knights of Columbus Police Council

1#12173 are informed by four core principles, charity, unity,
2fraternity, and patriotism; and
 
3    WHEREAS, The Knights of Columbus Police Council #12173
4brings together the brave members and former members of our
5law enforcement organizations and military in service and
6faith to improve their home communities; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The Knights of Columbus Police Council #12173 is
8recognizing its 25th anniversary in March of 2023, which is
9marking over two decades of service to the Chicagoland area
10and commitment to the members' faith; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
12HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13we congratulate the Knights of Columbus Police Council #12173
14and all of its members on 25 years of outstanding community
15service as an organization; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
17presented to Chaplain Father Daniel J. Brandt, Grand Knight
18Dennis P. Fitzgerald, Deputy Grand Knight Kenneth Malkowski,
19and all 2022-2023 Council Officers of the Knights of Columbus
20Police Council #12173 as a symbol of respect and esteem for
21this anniversary and years of success and fraternity.
