HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 50

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois General Assembly are
3honored to pay tribute to those who have given their lives to
4protect and serve the citizens of this great nation; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Specialist Charles Lamb was born in Paris to Tom
6J. and Shelly K. Robison Lamb on January 12, 1981; he married
7Erin E. Parbs in Marshall on November 21, 2003; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Spc. Lamb graduated from Casey-Westfield High
9School in 1999 and was a 2001 graduate of the Universal
10Technical Institute of Glendale Heights; he was an auto
11mechanic for Goodwin's Body Shop in Martinsville; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Spc. Lamb was a specialist E-4 with the
13Paris-based 1544th Illinois Army National Guard Transportation
14Unit; he was called to active duty in November of 2003 and was
15killed on September 5, 2004 during a mortar attack on a
16logistical base southwest of Baghdad; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Spc. Lamb enjoyed fishing, four-wheeler riding,
18motorbike riding, working in the garage, and, most of all,
19spending time with his family and friends; and
 
20    WHEREAS, The passing of Spc. Lamb has been deeply felt by

1many, especially his wife, Erin; his parents, Tom and Shelly
2Lamb; his sister, Jennifer Lamb; his mother-in-law, Irene
3Parbs; his sister-in-law, Kristin Parbs; his brother-in-law,
4Warren Parbs; his nieces, Ambrosia, Boston, and Macy Roberts;
5his paternal grandparents, Robert and Carolyn Beard Lamb; his
6maternal grandmother, Mary Robison; and his aunts, uncles, and
7cousins; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Spc. Lamb will be remembered by many as a heroic
9young man, deserving of honor; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
11HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
12SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate US Route 40 as it
13runs through Casey as the "Army Specialist Charles Lamb
14Memorial Highway"; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
16is requested to erect, at suitable locations consistent with
17State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
18giving notice of the name "Army Specialist Charles Lamb
19Memorial Highway"; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Spc. Lamb, the Mayor of the City of
22Casey, and the Secretary of Transportation.
